Oktoberfest 2008 (10/26/08) was an exciting day at Messiah.  Over100 attended and  enjoyed fellowship, great German food, dance and a little beer.  A special thanks to Sue Richards for organizing the event this year and all those who prepared and brought the food. Also a thanks, Reiner Nawrath who provided the music and dance instruction.

Abigail Olivia Bounds, the daughter of Brent and Debbie Bounds was baptized October 19, 2008 in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Abigail was born September 14, 2008, in Walnut Creek, CA.  May our Lord grant her the gift of the Holy Spirit, forgiving her all her sins and keeping her in her baptismal grace her whole life.

This year we combined the Annual Church Picnic with a Sunday School Rally.  A great time was had by young and old.  Food and refreshments were served after the worship service followed by games for the young and snow cones for everyone!

Ashton Alexander Burger , the son of Kenneth and Jennifer Burger was baptized on July 20, 2008 in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Ashton was born June 25, 2007, in San Ramon, CA.; May our Lord grant him the gift of the Holy Spirit, forgiving him all his sins and keeping him in his baptismal grace his whole life.

In honor of Pastor Janssen's 90th birthday, Rev. Arlo Janssen (Pastor Janssen's brother) was the guest preacher. Following the Service we met in the fellowship hall for a cake reception and photos.

Reverend Dr. Ihno Janssen became Messiah Lutheran's first pastor 6/1982 and continued until his retirement in 1987.  Judy Charles & Art Graham Photographers

 

Vacation Bible School was a resounding success again this year. We had 28 lively and joyful children and lots of wonderful volunteers who were kept on their toes with all the activities going on.

Our theme was Jesus, our forever friend and everything was centered around those thoughts. Our mission project was the Heifer Project and we were able to purchase two lambs that will be sent to a country badly in need of food and wool to make clothing for their people.
