Pastors Desk (Series of Blogs from 1999-2000)
Pastor Peter Ledic is a native of Chicago, IL, his family having
emigrated from Croatia just prior to his birth in 1956. That confluence
explains his fierce loyalty to the hapless (not so hapless this year though) Chicago Cubs and the Croatian soccer
team. His mortal inspirations into the ministry were his maternal grandmother,
Elizabeth Goettel, and his local pastor, the Reverend Ralph Pomeroy of Bethany
Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Pastor Ledic met his wife, Jean, while attending Concordia
Junior College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They continued on together to Concordia
Teacher's College, River Forest, Illinois, before they graduated and married.
In 1978, Pastor Ledic entered Concordia Seminary, Fort
Wayne, Indiana. During the four year program, he vicared at Grand Junction,
Colorado. Upon receiving his Master of Divinity Degree, his first call was to
Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrow, Ontario and he was ordained at his
home congregation in Chicago. Five years
later he accepted a call to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Decatur, Indiana. While there
he served as Circuit Counselor, became closely involved with the Russian
Mission Project and also taught at Concordia Theological Seminary.
Pastor Ledic has served at Messiah since August of 1999.
Services are on Sunday mornings and Thursday night; Bible Classes Sunday,
Sunday night and Wednesday mornings. Peter Ledic has been a stalwart of
theological purity during his Danville tenure. He thrives on Confirmation and
Bible Class instruction.
Philip (25), Luther (23), Theo (20) and the ever-enduring Jean, survive Pastor Ledic's presence.
His outside interests include tennis, golf and reading.
We celebrated Pastor Ledics 25 Ordination Anniversary on Octobrt 14, 2007at Messiah Lutheran. This was a fun event held concurrently with the 2007 Oktoberfest!. Click here to see the slide presentation put together by Bill DeHope for this memorable event.
