Info from Park brochure: This route follows Mitchell Creek and is extremely popular in the spring and early summer when wildflowers are abundant. There are ten identified stops following the Mitchell Canyon Trail Guide. The route begins within an oak savanna woodland and then enters a riparian community. The shaded north exposures are alive with wildflowers in the spring. Watch for the California quail and butterflies as well. You may alter a portion of your return by following the Globe Lily Trail which offers a modest elevation gain and provides wider vistas.

"Over Fifty" Outing
On the last Sunday in June right after the service
twenty-eight members enjoyed a sociable meal at the Brass Door restaurant.
Pastor Ledic led us in prayer. Everyone mixed beautifully conversing with many
whom they usually do not have time to talk to right after service. We are
getting many new members and this was a perfect time to become acquainted or
become better acquainted with those whom we know over a period of time.
Reserve the last Sunday in July(7/26) in the evening for a movie
with popcorn right here in the Fireside Room at church. If you have not
attended one of these social functions and you are qualified by age, do plan on
attending. What could be better than to know fellow Christians better? Mark
your calendar now!

Sumptuous Repast!
If you were one of the fortunate ones of over 50 years, who
attended the banquet on May 17th, your taste buds relished the
succulent ham, the varied accompanying vegetable dishes with no two alike - all
prepared by experienced cooks. Let's not forget to include a bountiful board of
desserts. Upon arriving each guest was warmly greeted and asked to sample wines
or soft drinks along with a table of tempting finger foods. Chairs were
arranged in a circle, so that conversation came easily. On all three tables
beautiful roses, both adorned and scented the panoply of food! The meal was
well- planned with around 30 people enjoying the ambiance of excellent food,
delightful friends and Gemütlichkeit. Pastor Ledic led in an extemporaneous
prayer. Later after the banquet, we sang hymns requested by the guests. After
discussing names for the group, we decided to table selecting a name by vote
till June. A list of activities was given and guests were to select 4 or 5 in
which they wanted to participate. Hearty thanks to ALL who helped, whether
planning, setting up or cleaning up. If you missed this first activity, you
missed a gourmet's delight!
Do plan to come to the next activity on June 28th,
a dinner at a restaurant right after church. Norman Luebkeman has the details.
